I exchanged emails with our OzBus contact Rob this week, and he says that they are still short on numbers for the OzBus London to Kathmandu trip that leaves on July 10th. They are going to wait to see if they get more people to sign up over the Easter and Royal Wedding bank holiday weekends, and then make a call early May. So fingers crossed that the trip goes ahead. Any of you interested in joining us?
If OzBus cancels the trip, though, we already have some alternatives identified. We're looking at potentially going to Israel for 10 days, then 3-4 weeks in India and Nepal, followed by 3-4 weeks in Laos and Thailand. We thought in the absence of the OzBus route that we wanted to focus on getting absorbed in a few key places and cultures rather than try to fit in more countries.
Well, we will know more in a couple weeks, so I'll keep you updated.
Something to be Proud of
Some of you know that my husband Stephen has been wanting to go back to school for an MBA. He has spent the last year studying for and taking the GMAT and researching programmes, and he has spent the winter applying and pursuing a scholarship.
Many of you are also aware that the last two years have been difficult for Stephen and his family as my father-in-law's health has declined and there has been much to do in terms of his care and support, with Stephen taking the lead as his father's power of attorney.
Because of this, Stephen has been eyeing the International MBA at University of Denver, which ticks the box as having the international business focus Stephen is looking for as well as ticking the box of allowing Stephen to be closer to his dad (Harvey's care center is just over a mile from the DU campus) and closer to his immediate family who are all living in the Denver area.
The cost of DU's programme is a bit cost prohibitive, and Stephen has sought out and nurtured relationships with key faculty in the hopes of increasing his potential for funding support.
I am so very proud to share with you that my Stephen's hard work has paid off, and he has received confirmation from DU's school of business that they will be offering him a MERIT SCHOLARSHIP!
While the scholarship does not cover all his tuition, it would definitely lighten the load and is an excellent accomplishment for Stephen and an inspiration to others by showing even if you weren't at the top of your undergraduate class you can work hard, establish a successful career, and prove he is worthy to be considered a top MBA candidate.
Please join me in giving a big congratulations to my hubby. As you can probably tell, I'm so very proud of him!
