So we have decided to move to Option B, which is to sign up for the OzBus London to Kathmandu trip that runs from July 10th to August 24th, and add a week or so afterward in Thailand before using airline miles to fly back to the US for our friend Mike's wedding in Boston in Early September.
The down side is that we may not know if Option B is a confirmed possibility for several weeks as OzBus has informed us that the OzBus London to Kathmandu trip has yet to reach the minimum numbers necessary to run this trip. So do any of you want to join us on OzBus London to Kathmandu? If so, you can find more details on the trip at http://www.oz-bus.com/london-kathmandu-sydney/london-kathmandu-budget.aspx, which includes all transport, accomodation, and some meals (though does not include return flight afterward).
Just in case Option B does not work out, we're exploring an Option C which would piece together several independent, alternative tours/trips over the same time period of July-August 2011. Alternate tours/trips we're looking at include Damascus to Istanbul (covers most of Turkey), 1-2 weeks Eastern Europe (Austria, Czech, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, etc), 2-week Serbia missions trip, 2-week Philippines missions trip, 10-days Israel & Palestine, 2-4 weeks India & Nepal, 2-4 weeks Thailand & Laos, 2-4 weeks England-Scotland-Wales-Ireland camper van road trip, 2-3 weeks Australia, etc. Obviously we couldn't do all of these, but they are some of the possible destinations we are considering.
For those of you wondering where we'll end up landing after this summer's epic adventure, we have yet to confirm whether we'll be looking to stay in the UK or move back to the US. Stephen is considering the International MBA at the University of Denver, he has been accepted but he is waiting on financial aid confirmation to decide whether to accept, postpone or decline.
